The Country
The little town centre is a jewel in Arabic style. The houses with terrace reachable by external stairs and the spacious internal spaces are the heritage of the Arabic domination that has left its mark in Sicily, in the architecture as in the flavours of our typical dishes. The streets are mainly narrow and sinuous to protect themselves from the sea wind that blows gently and persistently. The Florio Palace is an example of liberty architecture: it was home to the unfortunate Florio family in the early ‘900, today home to the maritime museum.
